In Chinese the word for butterfly echoes the word for great age, so the motif carries a wish for a long, affectionate life; paired with an open flower it becomes a symbol of devotion and of seasons that keep returning.
A narrow brocade band is gathered by hand over an elastic core and closed with a hidden seam, so the pleats sit unevenly on purpose.

Hand wash cool with a mild detergent, reshape while damp and dry flat away from heat. Do not wring the brocade band — the elastic core is sewn in.
